Geological Institute has been carrying out marine expeditions
in Atlantic ocean since 1985, and we hope to continue. Some Laboratory
staff members have started their participation in ocean floor investigation
in 50's and 60's in other organizations. New people, joining Laboratory,
are bringing new ideas, methods, using new technologies, particularly in
information affairs. But the historical aspect gave us lessons, that always
will be useful. It could be described by: people, ideas, development, collaboration,
methods, expeditions, publications and results, as well. Each time this
sequence pretends to be concluded by most fresh results.

Undersea
Features Names. It contains the overview of Geological Institute RAS
activity in mapping of ocean bottom relief and naming of newly studied
objects. It also contains all necessary information for researchers who
are managing mapping and naming of new undersea features. Many of small
refinements for web-site were made as well.
Begining from now we are changing the format of Central
Atlantic map images from JPG to PDF and making a complete two-language
set for all materials - maps and descriptions. The title and List 5 (Sedimentary
cover) are changed to PDF for today.
Eventually we arranged first 4 maps from Atlas of
Central Atlantic Under Gallery

explanation notes under Open File Reports
as well.
